Värmdö Bränneri - the apple is the foundation
When we started Värmdö Musteri in 2008, we were already thinking about the next step, refining the must we extracted from Swedish apples. With the muster and a good premises, all the conditions were in place. When we realised the idea a few years later, in 2012 to be precise, Värmdö Bränneri was founded. With the distillery, the range was broadened from the must on the breakfast table over dinner to the end of the meal.

It's no secret that we have a passion for French food and drink culture. Prior to the construction of the distillery, we read everything on the subject and travelled to the parts of France that are synonymous with apple alcohol and sparkling drinks. We travelled to Normandy and to Champagne. We also travelled to other parts of the world, to people and places with knowledge of fermenting and distilling fruit and grapes.

We are not in a hurry
Studies have taught us that quality takes time. If there is one thing that characterises us, it is that we are not in a hurry. The equipment is purchased without compromise, in the distillery there are stainless steel fermentation barrels and a copper burner, all purchased with quality in mind. The oak barrels that Värmdö Bränneri uses for ageing come partly from the parts of France that have been recognised as being of the highest quality, and partly they are unique Swedish-made barrels. In short, no part of the distillery's construction or production was left to chance.

Quality takes time and shortcuts are not for us. We have planted several hundred apple trees on a hill a few hundred metres from the distillery. Older varieties coexist with new acquaintances. It will take a few years before the harvest is something to boast about.

Värmdö Bränneri is beautifully situated on Ingarö a few miles outside Stockholm. It is located next door to Värmdö Musteri in a purpose-built section.
