The brewery was founded in 2010 by Johan Håkansson, a home brewer since 1993. With roots in Kalmar, the business started in a basement at Kattrumpan and has since developed into an established microbrewery.

Ängöl's profile is characterised by classic beer styles with modern elements, always with a focus on high quality and pure flavours.

The business began in the historic barrel bindery on Ängö, where Nils Gustav Blomqvist and later his son Albert ran their business until 1968. In the same premises, Ängöl began its production a hundred years after the barrel bindery started, before moving in 2016 to larger premises on Polhemsgatan in Kalmar.

The current brewery has improved capacity and visibility along the access road, where the copper brewhouse greets visitors through large panoramic windows.

Ängöl is an active member of Sveriges Oberoende Småbryggerier and co-operates with many other Swedish breweries. The brewery works continuously with product development and offers a varied range, available through Systembolaget and selected restaurants.
