On 1 June 2025, new rules will come into force allowing farm gate sales of alcoholic beverages in Sweden. The decision has been eagerly awaited by producers and visitors alike. But how does it actually work? Here is an overview of the main rules.

It is not allowed to just drop in and buy - the sale must be part of an educational programme lasting at least 30 minutes. The programme must also include information on the risks of alcohol.
Different rules depending on the municipality
Each municipality sets its own guidelines on how farm sales may be organised in practice. This means that conditions may differ from place to place. Once the municipality has made its decision, you can find the exact details from each producer.
