Ästad Vingård is one of Sweden's largest vineyards, in the middle of the beautiful Åkulla Bokskogar nature reserve.

At Ästad Vingård we grow organic grapes and make our own wines. The grapes are grown on an inland farm in Ästad and a coastal farm in Morup. We make sparkling wine from most of the harvest, using the traditional method of second fermentation in the bottle.

SOLARIS, PINOT NOIR AND CHARDONNAY
The grape we grow is called Solaris. A green grape that thrives in our northern climate and often provides the high acidity we need for our sparkling wine. In 2011 we planted the first vines and today we have about 30,000 vines divided between an inland cultivation and a coastal cultivation. There are also some experiments with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on the coast.

PENGUIN HILL, INLAND CULTIVATION
For decades, wheat and vegetables were grown on the fine soil of Pengakullen. But since 2011, 14,000 Solaris logs have been growing here. Compared to the coastal cultivation in Morup, Pengakullen has a much tougher climate to contend with. But the cool summers mean that the grapes often have high acidity and fine green tones in the flavour.

MORUP, COASTAL CULTIVATION
Twenty minutes from Ästad is our coastal farm in Morup. Here, the sea helps to warm the surroundings and the farmland is an old seabed. In Morup there are 14,000 Solaris plants and a few rows of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
