Om Byaregårdens Vingård
Byaregården Winery is located in the Viskan Valley just north of Varberg, where the climate of Halland offers ideal conditions for viticulture. The combination of cool nights and a slow ripening process helps develop grapes with fresh acidity and rich aromas. What once began as a small experimental vineyard has gradually grown into an ambitious venture in Swedish wine production.
In the spring of 2022, approximately 6,500 vines of the Solaris, Muscaris, Rondo, and Cabernet Cortis varieties were planted. The vineyards are divided into two sections, with the red grape varieties grown in a more sheltered location while Solaris makes up the majority of the larger vineyard.
Sustainability and a long-term perspective are central to operations at Byaregården. To promote a living and fertile soil, the estate uses, among other things, its own biochar in combination with horse manure. This strengthens the soil’s microbial life, improves its water-retention capacity, and simultaneously helps store carbon in the soil.
The winery’s work is characterized by a desire to let the unique character of the vineyard come through in the wines. The cool nights help preserve the grapes’ natural freshness, resulting in wines with balance, elegance, and distinct character. Byaregården Vineyard is an example of the emerging Swedish wine culture, where dedication, craftsmanship, and local conditions come together to create wines with a strong sense of place and origin.
