Mälarvin

Mälarvin is a small-scale Swedish winery and wine producer with roots on Selaön in Lake Mälaren. The business is led by Kira Lindell, who founded the company in 2024 with the vision of creating sustainable, vibrant wines that clearly reflect the terroir where the grapes are grown. That same year, over 2,800 grapevines were planted by hand on northern Selaön, while the business expanded through an older vineyard in Östergötland, where the first harvest took place as early as 2024.

The company practices viticulture-driven winemaking, where work in the vineyard is just as important as work in the winery. In addition to wine production, Mälarvin also offers grapevines, vineyard equipment, and consulting services to those who wish to start their own vineyard. Through close collaboration with the growing Swedish wine movement, the company aims to contribute to the development of Swedish wine production both nationally and internationally.

In 2026, Mälarvineriet will open its doors for visits, educational programs, and on-site sales, giving visitors the opportunity to experience Swedish viticulture up close on the shores of Lake Mälaren.

The foundation of Mälarvin is rooted in a passion for craftsmanship, food, and nature. Before venturing into wine, Kira Lindell worked in Stockholm’s market halls and the restaurant industry. Through mentorship and internships in a vineyard setting, the idea of creating her own winery took shape. Today, Mälarvin is part of the rapidly growing Swedish wine industry, where new cultivation methods and changing climatic conditions make it possible to produce quality wine even in the Nordic region.
